MOLITER TRANSPORTATION & PUBLIC SPACE SOLUTIONS

Make public information appear where visitors need it

Moliter provides indoor and outdoor digital signage and related display products for information display projects in transportation and public-space settings.

PUBLIC-INFORMATION CHALLENGES

Public information is not simply about adding more screens. It is about showing the right information when visitors need to make a choice.

People in transportation and public spaces are usually moving. At entrances, decision points, corridors, waiting areas and service points, they need to find relevant information quickly.

01

Key decision points lack clear information

Entrances, level changes, corridors, platforms, service desks and exits serve different wayfinding tasks. When information is missing where a choice must be made, visitors may stop to ask, take the wrong direction or miss a service point.

02

Changing information is hard to keep clear

Schedules, events, service hours, area notices, temporary routes and public announcements can change. The project team needs to define what changes, who provides it and which messages take priority.

03

Different locations repeat the same content

Visitors are at different stages at an entrance, decision point, waiting area, service area or exit. Repeating the same content everywhere does not help them understand their next action.

04

The screen is present, but information is difficult to read

Viewing distance, walking direction, display orientation, ambient light, weather and nearby visual distractions can affect whether text, arrows, routes and status information are easy to see.

05

Important public information gets lost among general content

Route updates, service changes, safety notices and event messages can be mixed with promotions, general introductions or looping content. Visitors may not quickly see what matters to their current action.

PUBLIC-INFORMATION DISPLAY DIRECTIONS

Use display content around the visitor’s actual information needs

Each direction below focuses on what visitors need to read at a specific stage of their journey.

01

Show the next action at key choice points

At entrances, corridors, transfer points, service areas and exits, the display should first answer: “Where do I go now?” or “What do I need to do next?”

02

Use digital displays for public content that changes often

When service notices, event messages, area information or daily announcements change frequently, digital displays can reduce the need to replace printed notices repeatedly. Project teams can use their own content sources and update approach.

03

Give each stage of visitor movement a different content role

An entrance can introduce the main direction and notices; a decision point can show routes; a waiting area can show current service, time or event information. Different locations do not need to play the same content.

04

Match display performance to viewing conditions

Consider viewing distance, ambient light, indoor or outdoor conditions and the time people have to read the message. For bright, outdoor or semi-outdoor settings, refer to the actual product documentation for display performance and protection information.

05

Make public information more prominent than general promotion

Direction, service-change and safety information should be easier to notice than general promotional content. The project team can arrange message order by importance, timing and the visitor’s location.

A VISITOR INFORMATION PATH

How information can follow visitors from arrival to departure

01

Arrive and identify

At the entrance or arrival area, visitors identify the place, service category, main direction or current notice.

02

Find the route

Before a corridor, level change, transfer point or service area, visitors see the next direction, zone or service location.

03

Choose at a decision point

Where several routes, service desks or destinations are possible, information helps visitors decide where to go.

04

Wait with current information

In waiting or rest areas, displays can show service information, time notices, event messages or public reminders.

05

Move to the next destination

At exits or connecting areas, visitors receive information about the next route, nearby service or later arrangement.

WHERE IT FITS

Different public settings, different information tasks

Transport Stops, Interchanges and Waiting Areas

For entrance direction, internal routes, zone notices, waiting-area information, service messages and communication with people moving in different directions.

Airports, Ferry Terminals, Venue Entrances and Large Public Buildings

For arrival direction, service-area notices, event information, queue or waiting reminders, and route recognition in more complex spaces.

Public-Service Spaces and City Event Areas

For public-service centres, hospital public areas, museums, exhibition venues, community spaces, event sites and other places that need clear public information.

INFORMATION TO DISCUSS FOR A PROJECT

What helps define the display role

Visitor path and display locations

Share the entrances, corridors, waiting areas, service points, exits and other places where people need information, plus what they need to know at each point.

Content role and information source

Share whether the project needs wayfinding, service notices, event information, time information or public announcements, and which party provides the content.

Viewing environment and display needs

Share whether the space is indoor, outdoor or semi-outdoor, along with viewing distance, ambient light, use period and the information role the display should serve.
