Writing and annotation

Everyday use

Lessons and discussions

Make an explanation visible

Write where the discussion happens.

A spoken explanation is easier to follow when the audience can see the steps, connections and changes on the screen.

01 / EXPLAIN

Build an idea step by step

Write a calculation or sketch a process as you explain it. Keep each step visible so the group can follow the reasoning.

02 / ANNOTATE

Point out what matters

In an annotation app, circle a detail or add a short note beside the content being discussed. Keep the original information readable.

03 / DEVELOP

Work through changes together

Use a whiteboard app to compare suggestions, revise a sketch and record the decisions reached during a discussion.

Annotation, erasing, saving and sharing tools belong to the software in use. Pen compatibility does not add features to an application.

The pen and the workspace

The pen provides input. The app shapes the workflow.

Moliter Smart Pen works with all Android interactive flat panel displays (IFPDs). A whiteboard app gives you a space to write; an annotation tool lets you work over existing content.

Keeping these roles separate makes everyday use clearer: writing with the pen and saving a session are different parts of the process.

Writing on a blank canvas

A whiteboard app is useful for explanations that develop during the session, such as diagrams, calculations and discussion notes.

Marking existing content

Annotation tools place notes over a document, image or presentation. How those notes are retained depends on the app.

Editing the original file

An annotation layer is not necessarily an edit to the underlying document. Opening a file in its editing app is a separate workflow.

Keeping the result

Use the app’s save or export function to preserve the work. Writing on screen should not be treated as a guarantee that the session has been saved.

Everyday applications

Useful in the moments that need an explanation.

Pen input gives a teacher, trainer or meeting participant a direct way to work through content at the screen.

Classroom Teaching

Work through a problem in stages, add notes beside a diagram and leave earlier steps visible while explaining the next one.

Training Sessions

Mark key parts of a process or example. A short annotation beside the relevant detail helps connect the explanation to the material.

Meeting Rooms

Sketch alternatives on the Android whiteboard and record the points agreed during the discussion.

Demonstrations

Highlight the part being explained, then clear unnecessary marks so the next point remains easy to see.

From a session to a useful record

Keep the explanation clear—and the notes usable.

Short annotations are easier to read from across a room than dense paragraphs. Leave space around drawings and avoid covering labels or important details.

At the end of a session, use the app’s save or export function before clearing the screen. A saved file should be opened once to check that the intended notes are included.

A simple session routine

Before: open the content and choose the writing or annotation tool you intend to use.

During: keep marks brief, separate unrelated ideas and clear annotations that no longer help.

After: save the work, check the result and return the pen to its usual storage place.

Practical answers

Smart pen FAQ

Can the smart pen work with different interactive-display brands, and do writing and remote-control functions have the same compatibility?

Writing compatibility depends on the screen's touch technology. We offer smart-pen versions for infrared and capacitive-touch interactive displays. Remote-control functions should be checked separately for the target device and operating system.

What software or receiver is required for page turning, red pointer and spotlight functions?

The driver must be installed on the connected device before the page-turning, red-pointer and spotlight functions can be used for the first time.

When one interactive display switches between Android and Windows, must the smart pen be paired again or must the receiver be moved?

No. When switching systems on the same interactive display, the smart pen does not need to be paired again and the receiver does not need to be moved.

When the smart pen is purchased, are the battery, charging cable, receiver and instructions included?

The smart pen is not a standard accessory supplied with the interactive display. When purchased separately, the battery, charging cable, receiver and instructions are included.

Can a worn smart-pen tip be replaced, and will wear affect writing or damage the screen surface?

The worn outer part is not replaceable. Whether wear affects writing depends on its condition and the pen-thickness setting on the display. Normal wear generally does not damage the screen surface.

Can the smart pen use our logo, packaging and instructions as part of a private-label interactive-display bundle?

Yes. We can customize the logo, packaging and instructions. Cost depends on the order quantity and level of customization.
