Motorized Stand for Interactive Flat Panels

Bring screen height into the way a room is used.

An electric height-adjustable display stand changes the screen’s vertical position. This helps a room accommodate on-screen writing and group viewing at different working heights, within the stand’s adjustment range.

Power and clearance

Height adjustment is different from room mobility.

A motorized lift moves an interactive flat panel display (IFPD) up and down. A wheeled base moves the assembly between positions. These are separate functions; a stand may provide one or both.

01 / HEIGHT

Writing and viewing positions

The useful position depends on the task. Reaching the writing area and viewing content from the seating area may call for different screen heights.

02 / BASE

Fixed or mobile installation

A fixed base keeps the installation in one position. A suitable wheeled base allows repositioning, subject to the stand’s movement instructions.

03 / CONTROL

Operation within reach

Control location matters in daily use. A handset, remote or on-screen control is a separate feature of the chosen configuration, not a consequence of powered lift alone.

What determines a sound fit

The mounting pattern and the load both matter.

A screen’s diagonal size does not describe its weight or rear mounting arrangement. These need to be considered separately when matching an interactive display to a stand.

The complete installation also includes any supported camera, shelf or computer. Each component must stay within the applicable mounting and load limits.

Supported weight

The display and attached equipment contribute to the supported load. A matching screen-size range does not override a weight limit.

VESA mounting pattern

VESA describes the spacing of mounting holes. Matching that spacing is necessary, but bracket clearance and suitable mounting hardware matter too.

Rear connection access

Brackets and attached equipment should not obstruct the connections needed for power, video or touch input.

Base and operating space

The base footprint and full movement envelope affect room clearance. Nearby furniture and cable routes belong in the installation plan.

Lift travel is not the same as installed screen height.

Lift travel is the distance the mechanism moves. The lowest and highest screen positions also depend on the base, mounting position and display dimensions.

For a useful comparison, use the same reference point throughout: the screen centre, bottom edge or top edge.

AT THE LOWER POSITION

Reach and base clearance

The writing area should remain usable without the screen or attached equipment meeting nearby furniture or the base.

AT THE UPPER POSITION

Sightlines and overhead space

Viewing height, overhead obstructions and cable slack all change as the display rises.

THROUGH THE MOVEMENT

The path between both ends

Clearance is needed through the whole lift movement, not only at its end positions. Cables must not become stretched or trapped.

Everyday applications

Different activities call for different screen positions.

The room layout and the people using the screen give height adjustment its practical purpose.

Classrooms

A teaching position and a student writing position can place different demands on reach. Adjustable height helps accommodate those tasks within the available range.

Training Rooms

Hands-on work at the screen and viewing from the seats need to be considered together, especially when participants take turns presenting.

Meeting Spaces

Screen height affects seated viewing and standing whiteboard work. Attached cameras also change position as the display moves.

Showrooms

Visitors need room to approach the display while the installation retains clear space around its base and adjustment path.

Installation and everyday use

Give cables room to move with the display.

A cable route that works at the lower position may become too short as the screen rises. Power, video and touch cables need a route that accommodates the full lift movement without snagging.

Any documented obstruction-detection function supplements—not replaces—a clear operating area. Installation and operation should follow the stand’s supplied instructions.

Three parts of the room plan

At the screen: mounting hardware, connection access and clearance for attached equipment.

Around the stand: furniture, the base footprint and space through the full lift range.

For a wheeled configuration: doorway clearance, floor conditions and the permitted movement procedure.

Practical answers

Motorized stand FAQ

How should a motorized stand be matched to an interactive display, and why is maximum load not enough?

Check the display mounting pattern, complete display-and-accessory combination, lift range and installed space. The stated maximum load must be read together with the model conditions. Test the complete final configuration through its full lift range rather than relying on the empty-stand rating.

Will the lowest and highest motorized-stand positions provide the screen operating height required by our project?

Calculate the lower edge, centre and upper edge of the installed screen rather than comparing column travel alone. Put the actual screen size, mounting-hole position and site requirement on one installation drawing and approve a site sample before the bulk order.

Can the motorized stand use wired and wireless controls, and can it connect to our meeting-room control system?

Wired and wireless remote controls are available. Integration with a room-control system depends on its interface and control protocol and must be checked against the project details.

Will wireless remotes accidentally control motorized stands in other rooms?

The remotes use pairing and addressing. The configuration has been tested in multi-device environments so one remote does not normally operate another paired stand.

How should power and video cables be routed so they are not stretched as the stand moves?

The installation drawing should show each cable path at maximum travel, with adequate movement allowance and defined fixing and storage points. Acceptance should include a full-range test to check connector strain and external-device cabling. Cable planning is part of installation delivery, not a task to leave to the end user.

Can the power supply, plug and documents for a motorized stand match the destination market?

Available power versions, plugs and supporting documents vary by model. The exact destination-market and project requirements should be checked item by item before ordering.

The essentials

A suitable installation brings together load capacity, mounting fit, usable screen height and clear space for operation. No single dimension describes the whole arrangement.
